'Semester at Sea' Students Tour the Cape Peninsula

Victoria & Andrew are 'Semester at Sea' students and friends both currently part of the Fall Semester Voyage circling the globe the World by ship. It was an absolute privilege to be able to show these two young minds around our beautiful Cape Peninsula.

We had great fun swapping stories from their voyage thus far and also my personal view on Cape Town, South Africa, all while taking in spectacular views along the winding coastline.

A windy yet clear Spring day here in Cape Town meant for good viewing, blue skies, and all-around awesome weather for our little road-trip around the Fairest Cape in the World.

Starting in the City Bowl we headed through the Southern Suburbs, past Muizenburg and onto St. James, Kalk Bay, and into Simon's Town where we visited the penguins at Boulder's Beach.

Soon after we headed up Smitswinkel pass, and along nearby Ostrich Farms and the border of the Cape Point Nature Reserve; making our way towards picturesque Scarborough Eco-Village for a snack at the Village Hub Cafe before driving through Misty Cliffs with its ultra white beachline and turquoise waters.

Next up, a visit to the Cape Point Vineyards for some wine tasting, but not before a relaxed lunch out on the tree-house deck at the Monkey Valley Resort for a scrumptious meal paired with a fantastic view of Noordhoek Beach and the surrounds below.

With heart's content and tummies full, we took a drive along the twisty Chapman's Peak Drive to take in the view of Hout Bay harbour. Then, a ride along Victoria Drive, taking in views of Llandudno below us, with Lion's Head and Camp's Bay looking good ahead.

What would a Peninsula tour be without a stop at the renowned 5-Star rated 12 Apostles Hotel and Spa!? So we headed up for a short tour around their stunning premises. A special shout-out has to go out to all the 12 Apostles staff who were extremely gracious and accommodating during our time there; allowing us to wander around The Leopard Bar, Restaurant, Terrace, and beautiful reception foyer. Thank you!

A drive through Clifton, Sea Point, and past Green Point Lighthouse meant we got to take in splendid views of the Promenade and Green Point Stadium as we made our way back towards Cape Town proper and the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront.

It was wonderful to see the newly opened Zeitz MOCAA building in all its splendour, before an ample around the Waterfront, all topped off with a well-earned round of drinks at the local favourite Quay Four after a successful trip around the Peninsula.

I love the Cape Peninsula that much, that I think I could probably do this every day!
